OUR NEXT MEETING: Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 6:30pm at the Munster Town Hall
The Munster Business Crime Watch Program was founded in January 2007 and is sponsored through the Munster Police Department and Choice Community Council. The program is an extension of our highly-successful Neighborhood Crime Watch program and now consists of over 300 members of Munster's business and faith-based communities.
Through the Munster Business Crime Watch Weekly Report, members of our program are provided with information on recent crime activity and prevention methods relating to the business districts. Our members are also encouraged to share this information with their employees or staff members, and to encourage their employees to report suspicious activity and to look out for their neighboring businesses. To sign-up for our program and to receive the report on a weekly basis, please click here.
A packed crowd participated in a presentation on Active Shooter Awareness & Response in 2018.
Representatives from our program members are also encouraged to attend Crime Watch Meetings which are held at the Munster Town Hall in January, May, and September. These meetings include information about recent crime incidents in Munster, special speakers, door prizes, and more.
Program participants are also encouraged to contact our department (contact person listed at the bottom of this page) to request safety talks for their staff members or employees, or if they would like to display a 5 X 5 window sticker at the entrance to their business. 18 X 18 signage is erected in business districts where a large percentage of the businesses are current members of the program.
Target participating in a recent year's National Night Out Against Crime event at the Munster Community Pool.
Members are also encouraged to interact with the community in a positive way by setting up a FREE booth at the National Night Out Against Crime Celebration each August.
Any business or faith-based group in Munster is encouraged to join the Munster Business Crime Watch Program and can do so by filling out the electronic form available here. For more information, please contact Sergeant James Ghrist at 219-836-6639 or jghrist@munster.org.
