Town of Munster Indiana

The Munster Police Department was recently notified by the National Association of Town Watch that Munster's 2024 National Night Out Celebration had been ranked as the #2 event in the United States by population category (15,000-50,000 people).  In addition, Munster was ranked as the best National Night Out event in the State of Indiana as well.  Hundreds of communities hold National Night Out events in the United States each year.  

Munster's 2024 activities included a week of pre-events such as a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, Senior Safety Bingo, a canned food Drive, a Car Seat Safety Check Event, and a Block Party Contest that involved numerous areas throughout town.

The main celebration was held on Tuesday, August 6th and included a Community Parade, fireworks sponsored by Krazy Kaplan's, door prizes, games, giveaways, K-9 demonstrations, 150 booth participants, food, music, Citizenship Award presentations, and more. 

Our town's Project 365 was also submitted as part of our National Night Out activities and involved the creation of the Community Mural at the corner of Meadow Lane and Ridge Road.  The mural was organized as a beautification project to promote unity in our town.

The Munster Police Department would like to thank the record number of volunteers (especially our Choice Community Council members who organized the event), booth participants, sponsors, town employees, and attendees who helped to make this past year's National Night Out Celebration the best one yet!  We look forward to beginning plans this spring for our 30TH ANNUAL National Night Out Celebration which is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
